封闭系统，不考虑技术、经济、社会等变化，但事实上这些因素不断变化并影响生态承载力的大小。因此，加强生态足迹模型的动态研究非常必要。
（4）割裂了生态系统的整体性，不能真实反映生态承载力水平。整体性是系统之间相互区别的一种质的规定性，割裂系统的整体性会影响系统整体功能的发挥和系统要素之间相互联系、相互制约的作用机制。生态足迹分析没有把自然系统提供的资源和消纳废弃物的功能描述完全，也忽视了地下水和水资源的计算，可能导致生态承载力的计算结果过高。
虽然生态足迹有不少的缺点，有的学者甚至认为?生态足迹是一种不好的评价可持续发展的经济学和环境科学?

，但从生态足迹的研究发展状况来看，生态足迹理论的研
究逐步深入，另一方面，生态足迹为衡量生态环境和可持续发展提供了一种定量方法，从而为定性研究提供参考和为政策制定提供依据。因此，生态足迹方法具有非常重要的理论和实践价值。
