During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, many people experienced heavy traffic jams on expressways. As is shown in the picture, vehicles flooded onto expressways because lots of people took advantage of the long holiday to go home or visit tourist spots, which caused traffic overcrowding. People caught in jams killed time in different ways. Some were reading. Some were chatting. Some others were just complaining.
There are several reasons for traffic jams. Firstly, with the development of economy, the number of cars has been increasing faster than expected. Secondly, more people prefer to travel in private cars instead of on public transport. Thirdly, the toll-free road policy encourages people to enjoy the benefit.
How shall we deal with the traffic problem? As far as I",m concerned, the government had better abandon all the tolls. The administration should improve the present traffic system and provide constantly updated traffic information. It will also help for traffic to avoid the rush time or the most crowded roads.
