U 1 知识点
1. King Hiero asked a crown maker to make him a golden crown.
常用搭配: make sb. sth. 或make sth. sb. “给某人制作某物”.
make sb. do sth.“让某人做某事”; make sb.+ adj.“使某人怎样”
eg:My mother often makes me do exercise. The news made me happy。 我想给妈妈做个蛋糕。 2. At first, he was very happy with their everyday life.
“(对某人或某物)感到满意”:be happy with … 可用pleased , satisfied , glad 等词代替happy. They were very close and happy with their everyday life. 3.Is it made completely of gold?
be made of…意思是“(成品)是由….(材料)做成的”, 与be made from 意思相同; 区别: be made of 表示成品能看出原材料,be made from 表示成品看不出原材料. eg: The box is made of wood.
Cheese and butter are made from milk.奶酪和黄油是牛奶制成的. 4. He sent it to Archimedes and asked him to find out the truth.
(1) find out 意思是“找出,弄清楚;查明;发现”. find 和find out都可译做“发现”,但发现的过程不一样.find强调在经过“寻找(look for)后的“结果”(找到或找不到),又可以表示“(偶然地)发现…” find out 强调“经过努力发现….”或“弄清楚真相”.
(2) truth意思“真相;事实”,是true的名词形式,常用短语tell the truth. eg: I found a watch on the road.

The teacher wanted to find out who has broken the door. He has the right to know the truth.

seem意思是“好像;似乎”,常用搭配: seem+ adj. , seem to be/do. eg: He seemed very happy to see me.他好像很高兴见到我. He seemed to be an old friend. 他就像一位老朋友一样。
6. Archimedes was still thinking about this problem as he filled his bath with water. 当阿基米德往浴缸灌水的时候,他还在思考着这个问题。
(1) as意思是“当…的时候”, 其用法与when和while相似。 eg: She listened to music as she did her homework.
As time went by, we found he was an honest man. (2) fill A with B意思是“用B把A填满”, 变成被动的短语:be filled with,意思与be full of类似,
表示“填满、充满”
eg: We fill up our lives with meaningful tasks.我们忙碌着,过得很有意义.
The clear sky is full of stars.晴朗的填空布满星星. 7. He then sent the crown maker to prison.
send…to prison意思是“把…关进监狱”, 类似搭配:put/throw sb. into prison. eg: Do you sent the killer to prison?

1. mind n.聪明人,富有才智的人
eg:He is one of the greatest minds of the age.
(1)mind用作名词,还可以意为“思想、想法、头脑、智力”。 常见的含mind的短语有:
change one’s mind 改变主意; make up one’s mind 下定决心; keep in one’s mind 牢记…… (2)mind用作动词时,意为“介意、反对”,常用的句型为:
Would you mind doing sth.? 请问,可以……吗?常用来表示委婉、客气的请求。
2. a little“稍微有点 ”, 可修饰形容词、副词原级或比较级,表程度。 有点冷 有点累 他比我高一点。 He is taller than me.

2. consider的用法 :+ 名词或代词 考虑…… + doing sth. 考虑做某事 + 疑问词+ to do 考虑 consider sb/sth (as) sth 认为某人、某物是….. Please consider my suggestion. 请考虑我的建议。 1) She is considering going to Europe. 她在考虑去欧洲。 4) We consider him to be our friends. 我们认为他是我们的朋友。 5) We consider that he is our friends. 我们认为他是我们的朋友。
4. sense n. 理解力,判断力
eg:Although she’s not clever,she has got lots of common sense.
拓展:sense可以用来表示某种“感”,如幽默感、正义感、责任感等,这时在sense前加不定冠词: a sense of humour幽默感; a sense of duty责任感

invite v. 邀请 常用短语:invite sb. to a place 邀请某人去某地;invite sb. to do sth. 邀请某人做某事 eg:I invite her to my house. I Invite her to go for a walk.
7. pleasure n. 乐事,快事 it is a pleasure to do sth 做某事是一件乐事。 eg:The thought fills me with pleasure.
辨析: pleasure 不可数名词,表示“高兴、愉快、乐趣” It’s a pleasure.
pleased 形容词,表示“高兴的,满意的”,主语只能是人 We are pleased with his work.
