课题《What are you doing for vacation?》 1、知识目标 :. Acquire some new words and expressions related to activities for vacation. Learn to correctly use the present progressive to talk about future plans, and master the typical sentence form of this unit, namely “What are you doing for vacation?” 2、能力目标: The main content of this unit is related to “vacation plans”. In this 教 unit, we must learn these parts: (1) Learn how to talk about future 学 plans; (2) Use present progressive as future tense; (3) Use “where, 目 标 when, how long” questions correctly; (4) Improve students’ abilities of communication and integrating skills. 3、情感目标: This content is close to the students’ life and the topic deals with the students’ holiday plans. So it’s helpful for the students and it can arouse the students’ special attention and encourage them to take an interest in learning English. At the same time it can bring up the students’ feelings of solicitude and being interested in expressing themselves in English. 1、重点: 教学 The usage of Present Continuous Tense for talking about future 重点 plans, such as “What are you doing for vacation? We are staying for 难点 two weeks. I’m spending time with my friends.” and so on. 2、难点: Learn to use “where, when, how long” questions correctly. 课时安排 Period 2 (Section A 3a-4) Step 1 Greet the class and Review. 课后补记: Good morning class, today we go on to learn Unit.3 What are you doing for vacation? Turn to page 100, review the new words from “babysit” to “Hawaii” and ask students to repeat. Review the sentence patterns learnt in last period, you show some pictures which illustrate the holiday activities and do some asking and answering practice with students. Step 2 Section A 3a Now open your books and turn to page 15. Look at 3a first. Then ask students to look at the chart. There are two questions in the chart. Where are they going? How long are they staying? Then you can explain those two sentences to the students with the help of interrogative adverbs “where, how long”. Next, make the students read the whole conversation by themselves and fill in the chart. Then check the answer by asking “Where is Tony/Lin Hui going?” “How long is Tony/Lin Hui staying” And guide students to answer the question by “ He is going to …” “He is staying for …” Do comprehensive reading of the conversation, enunciate some usages and sentence patterns to the students. Step 3 Section A 3b Ask two students to read the conversation on the right. Then let all the students to read the chart on the left, the first column for names, the second column for places, the third one for time. Make the students work in pairs to make conversations according to the information in the chart, in the patterns of
sample conversation. Ask several pairs to perform their conversations out. (about Zhu Yan, Mary, Mike). Some corrections and praise should be given. Step 4 Section A 4 What is your dream vacation? Where are you going? When are you going, and how long are you staying? Please write a short passage about your vacation dream. Step 5 Optional Activity Collect the person and read some of the papers to the class. Ask students to guess who wrote each paper. See who can make the most correct guesses. (exercise)Ask students to read the question. For each answer, type in the correct form of the subject and verb. Step 6 Make a summary This class we’ve learnt key vocabulary and target language.
