Shopping online, an irresistible fashion
With the rapid development and increasing popularity of information technology, shopping on the Internet is becoming more and more popular especially among teenagers. As a new way of buying products and services, online shopping has been significantly changing modern lifestyles, which also makespeople’s daily life more convenient and comfortable.
Firstly, shopping online is an energy-saving and time-saving way to buy what people want.According to pictures on websites like Tmall and Jingdong, people can obtain information about products. Besides, they can compare products and prices between retailers with a couple clicks of the mouse. After people pay online, the goods will be delivered at their front door, which is quite convenient especially for the old and the sick.[1]
Second, people can save money because the goods shopped online are cheaper than those in stores. For the retailers, they do not have to rent a store and spend much money on employees compared with the traditional trade mode, which cuts the cost of goods.[2]Moreover, people can participate in promotional activities to get great discount, just like Single's Day in china. Nobody does not want to save money, so most people choose to shop online to cut their spending.
Thirdly, the products provided online includevarious kinds of goods and brands, which can satisfy people’s demands. There were 7.54 million online stores In Taobao in 2014, including life service and foreign goods.[3]People can by any goods in all shapes, sizes and colors even different life services online, and they do not have to go from one store to another to choose the commodities they want.
Another benefit of online shopping is that it can reduce the psychological burden of shopping
because people only click the mouse.Shopping online also caters for people’s pursuit of individuality, which is the reason why so many teenagers like online shopping.[4]
At the same time,the goods boughtonline may be not registered and different from the pictures on computer. However, there are also dishonest traders in stores selling fake products. Online shopping makes it easier for people to compare products from different online stores and notice the comments onthem, so it is less likely to buy fake products.Moreover, if people donot want the products bought online, returning them back unconditionally is also allowable, which may be more difficult if they buy them in store.
Without going out and wasting time to go window shopping, online shopping is an irresistible trend in modern society. The 《Survey report of Chinese Internet users report in 2015》showed that 78% Internet users choose shopping online instead of shopping in mall, and more than 90% Internet users by air tickets and train tickets online rather than by station.[5] It is believed that more and more people will be accustomed to the new shopping way and shopping online will be more reliable in the future.
