Abstract
Idioms are the essential part of the language and are closely related to cultural background of the nation. Animal idioms have rich meanings and play a unique role. Idioms study on animals will help us to understand the usage and the culture of animal idioms appropriately and truly. This paper attempts to summarize the causes of differences between English and Chinese Idioms from the aspects of culture, history, religion, lifestyle, and to study the Chinese and English Animal Idioms from a comparative perspective, and to identify their semantic differences and commonalities. Finally，the paper give some translation methods of dealing with cultural differences. Therefore, we can not only master the animal idioms better and use them accurately, but also understand the eastern and western cultures, promoting the cross-cultural communication and translation practice.

摘要
习语是语言中的精华部分，与一个民族的文化背景紧密相关。动物习语尤其具有丰富的表现力和独特的作用。对动物习语的学习将有助于到位的理解、恰当的运用并真正领悟习语中的动物文化。本文试图从动物方面总结英汉习语的差异，并从文化、历史、宗教信仰、生活习俗等方面的差异分析与总结英汉动物习语差异形成的原因，用比较的方法来研究汉语和英语的动物习语，并找出它们语义的差异性和共同性，进一步分析出它们异同的原因，进而分析正确翻译英汉动物习语得方法，意在传译出原文的真正含义和风格，促进英汉的跨文化交流。
