Unit 6 Animal Intelligence (8学时)

1. 学习目的和要求

(1) Understand the main idea (some animals seem capable of thinking when it is in their own interests to do so) and structure of the text (introduction, three subheadings to give three supporting examples, conclusion); (2) Appreciate the importance of examples in expression;

(3) Grasp the key language points and grammatical structures in the text; (4) Conduct a series of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities centered upon the theme of the unit. 2. 课程内容

Structure“ only to…” , “Why not+verb”; Expressions for Making Suggestions and Banking; Learn to use examples in essay writing.

Unit 7 Emergency (8学时)

1. 学习目的和要求

(1) Understand the main idea (Anthony Falzo saved two children in a courag

eous deed) and structure of the text (three parts--- what happened before, during and after the incident);

(2) Appreciate the advantages of specific words over general words; (3) Grasp the key language points and grammatical structures in the text; (4) Conduct a series of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities centered upon the theme of the unit. 2. 课程内容

Unit 8 Coping with an Educational Problem (8学时)

1. 学习目的和要求

(1) Understand the main idea (teenagers’ idleness and ignorance will seriousl

y affect themselves and society in general) and structure of the text (two parts---the author’s concern and his proposed remedy);

(2) Learn the way to write a cause-and-effect analysis;

(3) Grasp the key language points and grammatical structures in the text; (4) Conduct a series of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities ce

ntered on the theme of the unit.

1、学习目的和要求

通过本单元的学习,使学生掌握文中的目标词和短语,熟悉本文的篇章结构,了解利用网络自学、自我教育的方法和感受,重点是远程英语教学的感受,网络学习的方法,利用网络自学的利弊等,从而扩展英语学习的方法,认识自我学习、自我教育的重要性,增强学习的信心和乐趣。 2、课程内容

(1) 识记:positive, unlike, intimidate, access, virtual, embarrassing, participate in, now that, reach out to, community, unique, critical, perspective, commit, assimilate, in addition, reflect on, allow for等。

(2) 领会:not only…but also的倒装用法;It is/was critical that…句型中,

that 从句用should do形式;根据上下文猜词义的阅读方法。

(3) 综合应用:利用本单元所学单词、短语及语法和句型结构使学生能够听

懂、读懂、看懂与本单元主题相关的背景知识,并就与网络学习、自我教育有关的话题,进行个人发言、小组讨论和书面表达,能够较准确翻译一般的句子和段落。

Unit 2 (8学时)

1、 学习目的和要求

通过本单元的学习,使学生掌握文中的目标词和短语,熟悉本文的篇章结构,了解本单元讨论的主题“父母与孩子如何交流”,重点是父母与孩子的代沟问题,对事情的观点、生活理念等的差异与矛盾,父母之间的交流,孩子彼此之间的交流等问题,从而探讨如何解决父母与孩子的代沟问题,加强交流与理解,认识与父母、朋友等沟通的重要性,学会理解和与他人交流。 2、 课程内容
